Rupal Patel at 2023 Women in BIM conference in London

Confidence the key theme at Women in BIM London conference

Confidence was the key theme at Women in BIM‘s London conference on 22 November 2023. Delegates were welcomed to the sold-out event, held at The View in Lincoln’s Inn, by Marie Grieve, newly appointed as WIB’s global vice-chair, and heard a video address from global chair Rebecca De Cicco before getting down to business.

Keynote speaker Rupal Patel (a former CIA analyst turned real estate entrepreneur; LinkedIn profile) powerfully underlined the overarching theme, urging women to have confidence in themselves. The event’s social media stream on Twitter/X repeated many of her key messages: “confidence is not fixed – it can be learned … challenge assumptions about yourself … it’s not always a meritocracy.”… “Own your weird” … “Sometimes your presence will upset people. That’s okay.”

The event also featured several Nima ambassadors. David Philp chaired the day’s proceedings, while panel speakers included May Winfield, Vicki Reynolds, Emma Hooper, Paul Shillcock and Hadeel Saadoon. (Women in BIM is a nima Affiliate.)
