Volunteer with nima

Did you know that most of nima’s activities are undertaken by people working on a purely voluntary basis?

While a small number of individuals are remunerated for part-time work on core administration, finance, operational and communication tasks, 90-95% of nima’s day-to-day activity is delivered by volunteers. Some are supported by their employers – nima supporters and patrons – in committing their time and sharing their expertise; others volunteer in their spare time or, if self-employed, take time out of their working days to help keep nima, buildingSMART UK & Ireland and the Information Management Initiative (IMI) going. Ranging from subject matter experts to people wanting to learn about and contribute to better information and data management practices, volunteers are key to our continued existence and future growth.

Could you volunteer to help nima’s core team?

Nima’s chair and the vice chair team regularly consult with our members and volunteers in developing the organisation’s overall strategy, but practical delivery of that strategy is dependent upon individuals’ voluntary commitment of time and expertise. Across all key areas of nima and buildingSMART activities – including membership and project management, communication and events, education and upskilling, communities and stakeholder engagement, standards and guidance – we would welcome further volunteer support.

If you would like to become a nima volunteer, please contact Dave Peacock (vice chair for volunteers – see news; email dave.peacock@wearenima.im). He will then respond to discuss how you can best add value to nima and/or bSUKI, and help to pair you up with the most relevant nima colleague(s).

We welcome volunteers from all levels and disciplines across the built and managed environment sector, from the UK and internationally; energy, ideas and enthusiasm are just as vital as expertise and experience. Please play your part in helping improve information and data management for all our benefit.
