UK BIM Framework project shortlisted for Digital Construction Awards 2025
The use of the Morta technology platform to support the UK BIM Framework has been shortlisted in the Best Application of Technology category of the Digital Construction Awards 2025.
The UK BIM Framework
The initial framework was developed by the UK BIM Alliance (today nima), British Standards Institution (BSI) and the Centre for Digital Built Britain (CDBB). It was launched in October 2019 to support UK implementation of information management good practices following the publication of the first parts of the international ISO 19650 series of standards in January 2019, as well as guidance such as Government Soft Landings.
Regularly updated, and endorsed by the UK Government’s Construction Playbook and the Transforming Infrastructure Performance Roadmap to 2030, the Framework provides free online guidance and resources to industry.
While the CDBB no longer exists, nima and BSI have continued to support the Framework’s development, including new guidance to support additions to the BS EN ISO 19650 series, plus new resources including Back to Basics videos, and infographics.

June 2024 upgrade
In June 2024, the core guidance elements of the UK BIM Framework were moved to an online platform provided by technology provider Morta. The switch also provided an opportunity to increase user and community engagement and collaboration. The Framework now incorporates an embedded form through which users can comment on the guidance and make suggestions for development. Following the transfer, over 100,000 views of the guidance were recorded in less than six months (26 November 2024 news).
The shift also allowed the team to refresh the ‘look and feel’ of the online resources, to review and update the content, and to create new navigation and search facilities, including the addition of an artificial intelligence (AI) capability trained on the guidance. Use of the AI feature has been showcased in a series of short videos shared via LinkedIn (24 February 2025 news); these were each viewed over 1,000 times, and over 1,300 click-throughs to the UK BIM Framework guidance were recorded, boosting overall traffic to the site by around 10 per cent.
Morta (also a nima bronze patron) provides connected information hubs that increase construction teams’ productivity and reduce risk by replacing manual spreadsheet- and document-based processes.
The Digital Construction Awards will be announced at an awards dinner at The Brewery in the City of London on 1 July 2025.
