Harnessing the potential of AI in the built environment
Nima affiliate organisation Constructing Excellence (CE) has launched an industry-wide programme exploring how organisations across the CE movement can apply Artificial Intelligence to support a better-performing built environment.

Chaired by Paul Beeston (RLB), the programme brings together a diverse group of stakeholders to shape a shared approach to AI adoption across the sector. It will focus on enabling responsible adoption, shaping industry norms, and helping the industry prepare for what comes next.
Building on discussions from the Constructing Excellence National Conference in January 2026, the programme takes a thematic approach to the people, process and technology factors behind successful AI implementation—covering skills, ethics, governance and practical use cases.
The group will engage across the CE movement throughout 2026 with the aim of sharing the outcomes at the 2027 Constructing Excellence Conference. Organisations involved with CE and wanting to input to its AI programme are urged to contact CE.

In February 2026 (news), Nima’s GIIG think tank published a position paper on artificial Intelligence (AI), aiming to provide clear, relevant, objective guidance on the use of AI, and to encourage appropriate habits and behaviours. Nima will review the paper regularly and update when new insights become available.
