Andy Boutle has built a career of more than two decades across engineering consultancy and contracting, driving the adoption of digital practices across the construction sector. Currently Head of Digital Construction at ALEC, he has been instrumental in implementing Building Information Modelling (BIM) and information management processes across major projects, ensuring alignment with ISO 19650 standards.
His leadership has been pivotal in transforming digital workflows into day-to-day operations. He introduced the low-code platform Morta to streamline processes, reduce data loss, and strengthen consistency, helping ALEC secure the BSI BIM Kitemark for three consecutive years. Boutle also spearheaded the standardisation of ALEC’s technology stack, ensuring practical adoption of tools such as Revizto, ACC Docs, Egnyte, Morta, & Power BI whilst focusing on usability, training, and cultural change.
Beyond his role at ALEC, Boutle plays an influential part in shaping industry standards. As an ambassador for nima (formerly the UK BIM Alliance), he co-leads the Ambassador programme, contributes to ISO 19650 guidance, and regularly shares insights at international forums. His leadership also extends to mentoring young professionals, supporting Emiratisation, and promoting diversity, with women now representing 22% of his team.
Boutle’s impact reflects both technical excellence and people-first leadership, making him a driving force in construction’s digital evolution.
