Consultation on revisions to ISO 19650 Part 3 opens
The revised version of Part 3 of the ISO 19650 standard is now out for consultation, with a deadline of 6 July 2026.
This latest consultation follows a similar process relating to revisions to ISO 19650 parts 1 and 2, which opened in March 2026 and closed on 3 May 2026. In advance of that consultation, a joint BSI/nima webinar previewed some changes relating to Part 3 (news). With Part 2 now covering both delivery and operational phases relating to built assets, Part 3 has been extensively revised and now provides a set of implementation guidelines to support the new ISO 19650-2.
The revised ISO 19650-3 (Part 3: Implementation of the information management process) sets out specific guidelines for implementing ISO 19650-2 requirements when:
- implementing a common data environment
- aggregating information models into the asset information model
- federating information and implementing an information container breakdown structure
- implementing the information production standard and information production methods and procedures, and
- detailing the level of information need.
BSI will be managing the consultation process, with comments invited via its standards development portal. Review the draft here, and submit comments by 6 July 2026.
As with the earlier consultation, nima is urging people to make constructive comments and suggestions, and to note what they like as well as things they do not like. All feedback received will be reviewed by ISO in order to reach a consensus about what appears in the final drafts and published standards.
